August 13th - August 19, 2021

  • 8/13 - Beckett - This is a drama/thriller movie starring John David Washington about an American Tourist on the run after getting swept up in a conspiracy in Greece.

  • 8/18 - The Defeated - Details are sparse on this one but it stars Taylor Kitsch in a period crime drama that takes place in postwar Berlin

  • 8/18 - Memories of a Murderer: The Nilsen Tapes - This genre is def not my thing but I know all y'all love it. In this documentary movie, serial killer Dennis Nilsen narrates his life and crimes via audio tapes from his jail cell.

  • 8/18 - Nine Perfect Strangers - PICK OF THE WEEK - This new drama mini series comes from a Liane Moriarty novel and David E. Kelley (the Big Little Lies team) so you can know what to expect tonally. It is about a group of people at a 10-day retreat at a luxury health and wellness resort. It looks weird in all the best ways! The first 3 episodes are out on this day and then the rest of the episodes will air weekly (8 total). The cast is amazing: Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale, Regina Hall & Michael Shannon.

  • 8/13 - Modern Love - Season 2 - I am not going to lie to you, I have no idea what this is, but if it is your thing... it's back!

  • Val - Shout out - Since Amazon is light this week I wanted to point out that the Val Kilmer documentary, that came out last week was amazing. He has been filming himself for 40 years and has lots of amazing footage. Since he can't speak much anymore (throat cancer) his son does the voiceover and he sounds exactly like him!

  • 8/18 - In the Same Breath - Documentary movie about the early days of the coronavirus pandemic in both China and the US. This is a hard pass from me, but you do you.

  • 8/19 - Eyes on the Prize: Hallowed Ground - This new special is a continuation of a documentary series from the 80's that was about the civil rights movement. (Original episodes are also on HBO Max if you would like to see them)

  • 8/13 - CODA - PICK OF THE WEEK Runner-Up - This movie is streaming here the same day it hits theaters. It looks terrific. It is about a child whose parents are deaf and she is not and she wants to pursue singing. Fun fact: This is the first movie EVER to have burned in subtitles in theaters to make it more accessible for those who cannot hear

  • There is nothing notable here this week. But sneak peak for next week. Parental PSA: The Paw Patrol movie comes out on Paramount+ the same day as in theaters (8/20) so if you don't want to subject yourself or your wallet to seeing this, you are saved. Side note: it is absurd that there is not a Mayor Humdinger toy of any kind. It is literally a show to sell toys and they don't have one of the main villain.

  • 8/19 - Five Bedrooms - Season 2 - This show is about five different people that are in a different period of their lives that bond at a wedding after being seated together. They are all single so they buy a house together. Not something I would normally even put here but peacock content is sparse at the moment.

  • Who am I kidding you are just watching The Office again

  • 8/18 - Diary of a Future President - Season 2

  • 8/18 - Growing Up Animal - This mini-series follows baby animals from their birth, to first steps to being independent. The first episode is out on this day and then it is weekly after that (6 total) It is TV-G so it probably leans more on the cute stuff than the birth and animal fighting stuff.
